Having a match between workforce and business needs is critical. Michigan has a high number of residents that drop out of the labor force and we must seek to reverse this trend.

Oakland County's overall labor force participation rate has continued to hover around 66% for the last couple years.
Current Status
The County’s Workforce Development division serves as the Oakland County Michigan Works! Agency and local Workforce Development Board, providing workforce development programs services to over 150,000 job seekers and 3,000 Oakland County businesses annually. With access to over $30 million in federal, state, and local grants, the Workforce Development division provides innovative workforce solutions to residents and businesses, including apprenticeships, career guidance, training programs, and supportive services, resulting in increased wages, higher educational attainment, increased employment opportunities, and higher job retention rates.
